Music at the Ballard Open Market, Sunday, June 6th, 2008

The markets in Fremont and Ballard are always a rich source of photographs. The diversity of the people in these Seattle neighborhoods provides an awesome palette of styles and colors from which to draw. These photos from the Ballard market were taken on my whirlwind tour of 30 minutes (a result of me having to edit volleyball pictures and the shots from the recording studio this weekend).

To kick things off is a picture of my new friend Joseph on his Australian made Didgeridoo.

The Kindness Kind Recording in Southworth!!!

Day 1 -- So far, so good. We arrived at the church at about 9:00 am and began the long, arduous process of setting up equipment. This is mainly Charlie's day and he and Lucas have been working for nearly 10 hours now on the guitar lines.

Alessandra recorded some scratch track vocals earlier in the day and I played basketball with Brandon, Alessandra and her brother Andre (not pictured). After losing miserably at HORSE (I do have two broken ribs), I drank some tea and took a ton of photos. Here are the results of day one. This is just the first five, I will have more later tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.

Tuesday Night Update

I would have more photos, but I was watching Total Recall with my friend Katie (pictured below).

So, since watching a movie with a beautiful woman is very important to me, just a quick update on upcoming events.

My band, the Kindness Kind, is going to Port Orchard, Wa, to continue recording our second album. It will be quite exciting and I will be posting photos on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

You can hear our first album at www.thekindnesskind.com/mp3.

You can get information on our upcoming shows at the stem directory (remove the '/mp3').

In other news, I have a ton of photos from the Moxie Volleyball event that I photographed on Saturday. I will have a few pics posted soon, however, there is a lot of editing to do. Maybe in the a.m.

Thanks again for coming to my site and taking an interest.

Sunday Afternoon Update

This months issue of Northwest Chess features my photo of National Master Nick Raptis on the cover. You can see my photos from the 2008 Wa Open at http://obstreperousapprobation.blogspot.com/2008/06/2008-wa-open-chess-tournament.html

Friday evening around 8:00 pm, I went to Pike Place Market and the surrounding areas to photograph people on the street. The market was closed, however, the summer sun in Seattle doesn't set until after 9:00pm, so there was plenty of activity.

It's pretty difficult to be inconspicuous with a 400mm super-telephoto lens, and I had more than a few stares, but was out for at least an hour. Below are a few that I found interesting, I hope you do as well. Seattle is a wonderful city.

My Baby!!!!

My Modulus 6-string, a recent addition to my bass collection. This collection comprises this bass and her sister 6-string Warwick, but my bass collection, nonetheless! I love my Warwick, but the graphite neck makes the Modulus about 4 pounds lighter.

The Kindness Kind Website

Ok, first thing is that my band has a website with music and videos (thank you Shira) and you should go and also send your friends. The URL is http://www.thekindnesskind.com/. Here are some pics that I have taken with my Canon Xti, since I am also a semi-professional photographer.
