People from Today's Photographic Journey around Seattle and its Environs

I didn't really encounter too many people today. Mostly I was trekking through southern Magnolia and the beaches filled with shattered concrete slabs (to prevent erosion I assume). After a nice quiet morning, I travelled to Green Lake to meet some friends. While there I photographed some baseball players, including this league player who has the most awesome team name ever. Just look at the shirt!

After I spoke with him, I photographed cute batter girl before wandering on to meet Kate (#3) and Katie (#4). Exhausting day, mostly.

Impromptu Portraits

Three faces from my daily life as it was a few months ago. Sam (1) is now an au-pair in Frankfurt-am-Main in the glorious Fatherland, Alisha, (2) my former manager, has moved on to greener pastures and Nic (3) I still see every day.

(1) and (3) were taken at Nic's birthday party at King's Bar in Ballard, Washington. (2) was taken at the office and features the chair I am sitting in as I type this.

Sunday Afternoon Update

This months issue of Northwest Chess features my photo of National Master Nick Raptis on the cover. You can see my photos from the 2008 Wa Open at http://obstreperousapprobation.blogspot.com/2008/06/2008-wa-open-chess-tournament.html

Friday evening around 8:00 pm, I went to Pike Place Market and the surrounding areas to photograph people on the street. The market was closed, however, the summer sun in Seattle doesn't set until after 9:00pm, so there was plenty of activity.

It's pretty difficult to be inconspicuous with a 400mm super-telephoto lens, and I had more than a few stares, but was out for at least an hour. Below are a few that I found interesting, I hope you do as well. Seattle is a wonderful city.

Alki Beach Juniors -- Adult Sunday Tournament

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the youth and adult tournaments held by Alki Beach Juniors, at Alki Beach in West Seattle. The sun didn't come out until mid-day, but the action was constant and the beach atmosphere is always wonderful for a Michigan native like myself. Below are some of the shots I took from the Sunday adult tournament.
