Sunday Afternoon Update!

My weekend in reverse:

Just finished a shoot at Green Lake with Deborah and it went quite well. I am still editing the photos, but there are definitely some really good shots. The 40D is great for action!

As a side note, I have updated my online portfolio at http://ausdertraum.carbonmade.com

Check it out.

As I was waiting at the Green Lake boathouse for my beautiful model to appear, the ducks must have mistook my rain sleeve for a bag of bread crumbs, as they were soon at my feet. "If your not going to feed me, then why are you here?"

This morning was pretty eventful at Alki Beach. There was an AVP Volleyball Tournament going on, but if I never photograph another volleyball game, it will be too soon. The Leschi did provide a nice opportunity, with the Space Needle in the background. It hovered around close to shore for a while due to a fire across the street which I had failed to notice, mainly because I was trying to get a good shot of the Leschi! It was a very small fire and there was no smoke to speak of.

Finally, here is a shot from South Lake Union of the Kenmore Air K5 "Evening" plane as it landed in the late afternoon.

Before I go out shooting for the day...

here is an interesting picture I found on the web:

This is the first all-female crew to fly a KC-135 StratoTanker on refueling missions over Afghanistan.

Just a Quick Thought...

Shots from Saturday's AVP Volleyball Tournament on Alki

After fighting off a tenacious illness and still managing to shoot the AVP event on Saturday and another crime scene shoot on Sunday, I have been taking a few days off to rest and relax. I am looking forward to getting into the field and shooting some more in the next few days.

Here are the shots from the Saturday tournament, some of which were published on the West Seattle Blog @ www.westseattleblog.com.

My 100th Post!!

Here are some shots from my weekend!

Photographing lovely women!

Alki Beach Skateboarders

Alki Beach Amateur Acrobats (they did land on their feet)

And how I feel about my life in general, wonderful yet somewhat inexplicable and crawling toward a zenith with centipede like quickness.

XTI DOWN!!!

Crap. I was changing lenses at Seward park today for the Blue Angels performance, when my AF plate came out and fell on the ground. The AF is so delicate that in order to clean it you are supposed to use sound waves ONLY! I had to leave my awesome spot on the beach and take it to CameraTECH in Ballard. Luckily, it will only cost about 60$ to clean and fix. However, I wont have my camera until Thursday!!! THE HORROR!!!

Luckily, not only did I get some good shots of yesterday's Blue Angels practice, but I also have about 5,000 photos that I've kept in reserve! Hahahahah! So there will be no shortage of blog posts. Just no new projects.

Lets start off with the Box turtle I shot before the camera mishap occurred.

Hey, I'm curious about you too.

All of these were shot at 100mm with my f/2.8 Canon macro lens. I laid flat on my stomach for about a half-an-hour, slowly approaching the turtle until I was almost touching him (or her). I've never had to gain a turtle's trust before, it was quite fun.

More Blue Angels on My Behance Portfolio

I have several shots from today's Blue Angels practice over Lake Washington on my Behance Portfolio . I am probably going back tomorrow for more! I will keep you posted. I am hoping to get another creative portfolio shoot in tomorrow also.

Blue Angels Practice from Seward Park

Anyone who was still working at 12pm today was cheated. Ha! I left work midday to enjoy the beautiful Seattle weather and to catch the Blue Angels on their pre-performance practice over Lake Washington. The papers all say that Jefferson Park is the best place, but I went down to the somewhat crowded Seward Park and found that the F-18's were buzzing overhead constantly.

I had to wait a short time and took a few pictures of ducks, and this Dragonfly, who was an unintended victim of my 400mm super-telephoto lens.
